Many people think that a company like Hampton Creek is all about creating vegan food. It’s true that there are plenty of vegans who are indebted to Hampton Creek for their products, and their availability at major grocery retailers. However, it often surprises people to learn that Hampton Creek’s business model isn’t solely focused on vegans. The fact is this new and exciting food company’s main goal is to provide quality healthy food to everyone. So far, it appears to be working.

Perhaps one of Hampton Creek’s best know products is Just Mayo. This mayo product is on shelves of food stores the world over. What surprises a lot of people is that this product is entirely plant based, and it’s made completely without eggs. This surprises many people mainly because of how similar it tastes to regular egg based mayo. In fact, outside of being its top seller for many years, and on the shelves of virtually ever food store in the country, it has also become the exclusive mayo condiment used by 7/11 convenience stores.

Capitalizing on this success seemed like a good business model, and while Hampton Creek does well on the reputation of Just Mayo, they have refused to be a mayo manufacturer only. They have branched out recently with plant based cake mixes, cookie dough and now, with over 40 new products poised to hit stores, Hampton Creek looks to break the mold when it comes to vegetarian and vegan food providers.

This company has taken their fast paced growth model to business finances as well. Over the past few years, they have been able to raise over $120 million in investment funds. This has enabled them to expand to over 110 employees and has allowed them to continue to seek out new scientist to figure out how to create even more plant based food products. In addition to all of this, they have been able to expand to a new 90,000 square foot production facility in California.

Their business model may be to bring health plant based food to the world, but they are doing it with speed and efficiency. For a food company, the speed of their assent has been impressive. For a new plant based company, it’s almost unheard of, and it keeps unfolding more and more each day.
